About this centre

We are proud to announce the opening of our Kumon Centre, located in Mohammad Ali Cooperative Housing Society (MACHS), in the heart of Karachi. MACHS is renowned for its bustling business hub and diverse culinary delights, offering central access to a large part of Karachi.

The Kumon method was founded in Osaka, Japan in 1958 and has now expanded to 62 countries. It is an individualized self study program structured to promote independent thinkers and problem solvers. The Kumon worksheets have been designed to advance each individual child’s abilities at just the right level enabling the child to study above and beyond school grade level.

At our centre, we provide individualized study plan and instruction to each student, regardless of their age or grade. Students progress at their own pace through our structured worksheets, honing their concepts and becoming adept at mental math and English comprehension skills. The student is not pressurized and learns at his/her own pace based on their own academic abilities. They are taught to be self learners and embrace and understand the full extent of their own potential. With the ‘just right’ level of work for each student, the expectations are set and gradually raised according to the growing capabilities of each student.

At Kumon MACHS, our focus is developing your child and maximizing his/her potential. The Kumon advantage helps them not just in their academic abilities but also teaches them the ability to focus, be confident learners, and experience the true joy of learning.

About the Instructor

As a strong advocate of the growth mindset, I am deeply inspired by Toru Kumon’s philosophy of nurturing kindness and developing children to be independent thinkers and problem solvers. In today’s fast-paced world, critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential for success. I believe that fostering these abilities in children from an early age helps them become leaders and innovators, ready to take on life’s challenges. Self-awareness and the ability to maximize one’s potential are key differentiators in personal and academic growth.

With over two decades of experience in the corporate sector and the privilege of studying at two of the country’s top universities, I am now eager to channel my knowledge and expertise into empowering the youth of our nation.  I am passionate about Kumon’s mission to unlock each child’s potential through individualized learning at just the right level.

Kumon transforms how children perceive their academic abilities, and I am excited to be a part of this transformative journey. As an instructor my main mission is to help each child become a confident learner and provide them with a positive and engaging learning environment that fosters a lifelong love for learning.

Popular Questions

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Both, and every child in between. This is because of our individualised approach to education, which always asks the question: "What is best for this individual child?" Following a diagnostic test, a study plan is set to develop the ability of the child and to progress them beyond the Kumon International Standard (an international approximation of their school level) regardless of their starting point. Kumon welcomes students with special educational needs, gifted and talented children, and all those who believe they can achieve more and fulfil their potential.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
