About this centre

Kumon Sunset Avenue Centre opened its doors in March 2024, bringing the world-renowned Kumon Method to the heart of DHA Karachi.

The centre is easily accessible to residents of DHA and surrounding areas and our on-site amenities (valet parking, WiFi, working space, kids’ reading area) enable parents to visit/wait while their children attend classes. We offer Math and English programmes – with a choice between paper and tablet-based study of the Kumon curriculum.

Our programme is individualized for each child to develop his/her skills to the maximum potential, regardless of age. Our Instructor and her team work closely with each child/parent to foster good study habits at the centre, and at home. They intently observe the understanding, skills, and progress of children, and assign daily work accordingly – keeping children motivated yet challenged. We strive for each child to achieve the greatest results in the shortest time and hope to deliver the method’s benefits to as many children in our community as possible.

For over 60 years, Kumon has helped children of all ages worldwide – it introduces early learners to math, reading and pencil grip- preparing them for school. It helps 6–12-year-olds advance beyond grade level. Higher level worksheets build analytical/evaluation skills in older children, equipping them for college, careers, and adulthood.

About the Instructor

Growing up as the daughter of an English Language teacher, I was encouraged to “Go look it up!”, instead of being given answers straightaway. Eventually ‘looking it up’ and self-learning became habits that helped me grow as a student in business school, through my 16-year career across various industries, and even through marriage and motherhood.

Now, as a mother to 2 tweens with very varying ability levels, I strongly relate to many of Mr. Toru Kumon’s philosophies. I’ve seen my younger daughter struggle and cower when it came to Math, and then thrive with newfound confidence just a few months into her Kumon journey.

Children today are growing up in a lightning-paced, competitive, and ever-evolving world. I believe that developing in them the ability to self-learn, and independently take on new challenges - is one of the kindest gifts we can give them.

Years of experience in training/mentoring teams, and a sharp eye for details, have helped me give my best as an Instructor. I look forward to guiding children through their Kumon journey, and learning from them along the way. I aim to foster highly capable, disciplined individuals, who will push themselves and others to achieve excellence in life.

Popular Questions

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Both, and every child in between. This is because of our individualised approach to education, which always asks the question: "What is best for this individual child?" Following a diagnostic test, a study plan is set to develop the ability of the child and to progress them beyond the Kumon International Standard (an international approximation of their school level) regardless of their starting point. Kumon welcomes students with special educational needs, gifted and talented children, and all those who believe they can achieve more and fulfil their potential.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
