About this centre

As a comprehensive after-school Maths and English enrichment programme, we at the Kumon Scotch Corner Centre aim to unlock the potential of each child so that they can achieve more on their own and advance to study materials beyond their school grade level independently.

Centrally located, in the heart of Lahore, the Centre welcomes children from ages three years and up.

Starting with a diagnostic test our professionally trained team determines the ‘just right level’ of study for the students which is engaging yet challenging for them. Applying an individualized study approach and through daily practice our students develop a solid command of math and english reading skills. Methodically structured Kumon worksheets clarify concepts and offer opportunities for self-learning resulting in reaching the student’s full potential.

We foster a ‘can-do’ attitude where students experience the true joy of learning leading to mastery of materials, increased confidence, improved concentration, and better study habits.

These valuable skills such as self-confidence and independence, not only help our students succeed in school, but also in their future as adults. Experience learning like never before.

About the Instructor

Rabia Saleem
The Kumon philosophy strongly resonates with me. Having moved to Pakistan from the UK in 2016, I quickly became a concerned parent for my child’s academic growth and development. This led to my pursuit of bringing Kumon to Pakistan.

I have experienced multiple teaching-learning styles, first as a student across institutions in Pakistan and UK, and then as an instructor at LUMS. I have seen that often, even the top scoring students approach learning with stress and not with joy.

As a parent of 2 young children, I want learning to be less stressful and more focused on learning outcomes. I believe that each child is unique and so should be their learning plan. Combining Kumon’s individualized worksheet programme with my experience as a qualified Chartered Accountant and experience as an Instructor, I now wish to create an impact in the education space in Pakistan by introducing a unique approach for children to reach their excellence that offers solutions to all learners regardless of their age and ability.

I would like to achieve this through Kumon in my community and make my contribution to nurture thinking minds engaged in life-long learning in Lahore.

Popular Questions

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Both, and every child in between. This is because of our individualised approach to education, which always asks the question: "What is best for this individual child?" Following a diagnostic test, a study plan is set to develop the ability of the child and to progress them beyond the Kumon International Standard (an international approximation of their school level) regardless of their starting point. Kumon welcomes students with special educational needs, gifted and talented children, and all those who believe they can achieve more and fulfil their potential.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
